Sunday School at Ascension offers the Montessori based curriculum, Godly Play for children Pre-K through 2nd grade, inviting children to explore the stories of our faith through wonder, storytelling and discovery.Our 3rd–5th grade class gives older elementary children a place to dig a little deeper by asking questions, building friendships and discovering how faith connects to their growing lives.Sunday School meets in the Children’s Education Wing on the north side of the building. Children are always welcome, whether they come every Sunday or are joining us for the very first time.

Children's Church
Children in Pre-K through 5th grade are invited to join us for Children’s Church each Sunday. Children begin the service in church with their families and then leave together as a group, guided by one of our junior acolytes to the Children’s Church room. Children’s Church offers a welcoming, engaging way to explore the day’s Gospel and its message in a way that is meaningful and accessible to children. Afterward, the children return to the service to join their families for Communion.We encourage all children through 5th grade to come along with the group. Friends and visitors are always welcome!
Godly Play begins with the belief that children already have an innate sense of the presence of God. Through beautiful materials, sacred stories, wondering and play, children are given the space to explore faith at their own pace and in their own way. Rather than simply teaching children what to think, Godly Play invites them to wonder, ask questions and discover meaning within the stories of our faith.Ascension offers Godly Play for children Pre-K through 2nd grade, meeting in the Children’s Education Wing. We would love to welcome your child. We are seeking volunteers and teachers for this program, also. Please reach out to Ivey, if interested.

Nursery
Our nursery is a warm and welcoming place for Ascension’s youngest children. We are fortunate to have a loving and devoted nursery staff who genuinely enjoy caring for little ones and helping them feel comfortable and at home at church. All are Safe Church trained and certified. Nursery care is available during Sunday morning worship, giving parents the freedom to participate in the service while their children are cared for nearby.For mothers who would prefer to keep their babies with them but would like a little more space and privacy, we also have a comfortable room where you can sit with your baby and watch the service via livestream. Whether your child spends the morning in the nursery, stays with you in church, or you make use of our mother-and-baby room, you are welcome. We want families with young children to feel completely at home at Ascension.
First Friday Every Month

Date Nights
On the first Friday of every month, Ascension gives parents a night off and the kids a night of their own! Children through age 12 are invited for an evening of pizza, movies, games, outdoor play and plenty of fun with friends. Each month brings something a little different, and our wonderful childcare staff makes it an easy, relaxed evening for everyone.Parents can head out for dinner, spend time with friends, enjoy a quiet evening at home, or simply remember what it’s like to finish a sentence without being interrupted. Childcare is provided by the church at no cost. We simply ask families to bring a few dollars to help cover pizza and drinks. A QR code is shared each month to RSVP.
