Weddings at Ascension

A marriage is one of the most joyful services celebrated in churches, and a sacred and personal time in your life. Church of the Ascension is pleased to help create a joyful, holy wedding day for our parishioners and their family members. (Non-member requests to be married at Ascension must be approved by our clergy.)

In the Episcopal Church, the sacrament of marriage is a public service of worship that celebrates the marital commitment that two people make to each other and before God. As such, the Episcopal Church requires:
  • That one, at least, of the parties be a baptized Christian;
  • That the ceremony be attested by at least two witnesses;
  • And that "the marriage conform to the laws of the State and the canons of this Church.” (Book of Common Prayer, p.422).
